Dec 18th - Pleasure (Pleasure) Video Shoot

“At what point should the strippers go out on stage with you?” Sometimes you just have to laugh. How many other professions would put you in a situation where someone asked you that question? Up to this point, I was pushing really hard on the “no stripper policy” in Bang Camaro videos. You see, we’re basically a bunch of shy guys. I’m not sure that the “Girls, Girls, Girls” vibe was really what we were going for when taping the live portion of our new video for “Pleasure (Pleasure).” Who knows anymore… Maybe it is.

My answer to director Adam Moyer (American Chopper) was obviously, “Wait until Maclaine starts his guitar solo, and then rush him!”

“We won’t tell him either”, responded Adam, “this is going to be awesome.”

And it was awesome. It was just a grinding mess of man, guitar, and female. Maclaine had a pretty huge grin on his face. I couldn’t stop laughing. Ten minutes later I was doing another shoot rocking out with our manager’s eight year old daughter. I have no idea about anything anymore.

We shot the footage from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Roxy in Boston. We decided to do it without a crowd for two reasons:

1) It was difficult to get a fake crowd together at the last minute.
2) The last time we had a fake crowd, we were all drunk by 11 am.
3) Hard rock has a long tradition of “live show videos” with no crowd.
So, there we were. Huge stage. Hot lights. Not nearly enough fog. However, one thing became immediately apparent. We are ten times the band we were since we shot the original video for “Push Push (Lady Lightning).” That first video shoot was basically our third “show” ever. We didn’t really know how to interact as a band, and it showed. Since then we have released a CD and played all over the country. It was a good feeling. I was also a sweaty mess. I’m afraid to see the footage.

So now the ball is back in Adam Moyer’s court. It’s his job to take the live footage we shot that day, and try to cut it up into usable shots that make us look a little less dumb than we normally do. Luckily, we know we’re in good hands. Hopefully the video will be ready before too long and everyone can get back to posting jokes about us on YouTube.
