Some random thoughts from Bryn

Alex and I came up with the idea of Bang Camaro about 3 years ago. I sometimes can't believe it has been that long. I know I've said it before, but we honestly thought everyone would hate us when we started and were truly doing it as a labor of love. We had no idea how to get things going or if anyone would be interested in being part of the band. Three years later, I guess we still don't have much of a clue about how to keep things going or what is in store for us next, but I have to say that we've been pretty lucky so far.

So, yeah, we're playing at Lollapalooza this Friday. I can hardly wrap my head around this fact. This is the festival that all my favorite bands played back in the '90's. To think that my hard rock band is going to become part of this legacy is an honor and a bit terrifying. (I should really try to practice for a few hours today.)

I just read a quick story about us in a Toronto paper that said something to the affect of "A bunch of UNSuCCESSFUL indie rock guys that couldn't make it decided to get together to form Bang Camaro." At first I was a little annoyed. Unsuccessful? I think most of us did well, and there is always the argument that comes up about what exactly is "making it?" Has Bang Camaro "made it?" Did we sell out by starting to play hard rock as the article suggests?

Then, like usual with the Camaro, I shrugged it off. When we formed the band in Boston, we were doing ANYTHING but selling out. All of the cool people around here couldn't believe that we were making this kind of music instead of the "art" that they were creating. It was like being in a punk band, but sounding like Def Leppard. It was ridiculous. It was rebellious. But even more important, IT WAS FUN.

So, here I am, getting ready to practice my Randy Rhoads solos in my bedroom. ("Flying High Again" is not easy!) I'm doing this to get ready for a massive Festival on Friday. I'm pretty sure that we're the only band on the entire bill that sounds like we do, and you know what? I'm proud of that fact. It doesn't seem like we've sold out one bit..
